Slightly off-topic:

Does anyone have a geographic phone number (one which doesnt start
0870, 0845, etc) for CompuServe UK?

Either customer services or head office.

It isnt listed on Say No To 0870

God, I didnt know Compuserve even existed any more... I remember that
when buying a computer magazine back in 1996/7 you would always get an
AOL and a Compuserve trial disc, but I thought Compuserve had since died
somewhat of a painful death in the ISP market. I remember how the email
addresses used to be made up of just numbers and commas - how bizarre!

I thought Compuserve was taken over by AOL/Time Warner.

I tried GO PHONES and typed in England. It only lists the 0845
number. AFAIK Compuserve no longer have a UK office. If you install
Compuserve 3.0.4 off an ancient freebie CD (or use Virtual Access as
your e-mail client as I do), youll be able to get access to one of
the few remaining UK forums where you might get an answer.

There is a geographic dial-up number, but I guess thats not what you
wanted, was it?

I used to do tech support for them some time ago, when I left they were
just getting rid of the Compuserve 2000 software. Shortly after I
believe they moved the support to the main AOL call centre in Ireland
somewhere, wouldnt be atall surprised if theyve given up on that and
calls go straight to the states now though.

Ah I remember the days when I paid them not just a monthly fee and
local call rate but a per minute charge on top... Thought moving to
global internet for ten pounds a month plus call charges was a bargain
then...
