Im just in the process of escaping from Three after enduring shit service
and terrible phones. Motorola A835, four handsets in five months!

Never will I go back, never, never never ...

Anyway, before the travesty of Three I always liked Nokia phones - nothing
beats them for sheer useability. I used the 6210i, then the 6310i, to my
mind classic business phones.

I am looking for a new Nokia which is geared to the same market - good
connectivity, including Bluetooth, good keypad for texting, clear screen,
some PDA features etc., not too big but at the same time not too tiny! I
also like a reasonable-looking phone which doesnt look cheap, but nothing
too flashy. I am not too hung up on a phones multimedia camera abilities. I
want a phone to be a phone first and foremost.

The current model numbering seems to be so confusing its hard to keep track
of Nokias product development. I have shortlisted two phones but I am
willing to be persuaded otherwise:

6230: seems to offer a good range of facilities. Im not convinced about its
looks however! I also tried it out today in a local phone shop and the
keypad is a bit plasticy with the keys close together, not great for
texting.

6820: interesting qwerty keypad idea, not bad looking phone either.

Other phones such as the 6510, 6100 and the 6610 dont offer bluetooth,
which is rather annoying.

Any advice welcome!

Pete.

i have one too, it is great but the main problems with it for me have been:

1.) will crash in different circumstances every other day
2.) is really slow in operation compared to my old 6100

Its a bit chuncky, and more of a PDA than phone. Great PDA is it tho,
and phone! Personally Ive gone for a 6100 and seperate PDA.

The 6600 seems excellent apart from its slightly bulbous appearance,
certainly it seems very well equipped (thanks for the above advice from
other posters by the way).

How do you find the 6100? I like the look of it and I may well do the same
as you - get a decent smallish phone and then get a separate PDA. As theres
no Bluetooth how do you sync it up to a PC? And do you have a hands free car
kit?

I cant understand why Nokia had such a down on Bluetooth last year and
didnt incorporate in so many phones where it would have been a huge
benefit - what were they thinking?

I have a data cable (phone comes with a software CD), but if you have an
infrared adapter for your PC you can use that instead (better option as
it will work with other makes of mobile)
I use Infrared to go on the net using my PDA (set PDA to dial *99# via
IRdA) so I can use MSN, Outlook etc on the go. Bluetooth would be nice
as it would save aligning them both but I can live with that.
The 6100 has a Nokia pop-port connector so any handsfree kits that
work with 7210 will work - basicly its a nokia and youve got no
shortage of car kits although since im still taking lessons I dont
have any need for one yet, cant even change gear and steer at the same
time, let alone talk at the same time!

God knows, the 6100 should have had Bluetooth really. The one thing I
like about the 6600 is that it takes SD cards, which is really neat if
your digital camera & PDA happens to as well.

Also there are a lot more applications for Palm or PocketPC than for
Nokias OS from my experience, so a good choice IMO.
