A friend tells me hes just successfully with very little problem
converted his JT Sim to OVP Virgin.
Called 0800 079 0200 and they also sent a Sim update OTA
which reprofiled his JT Sim to OVP Virgin, switching on the Diverts menu, etc.
So No new Sim had to be sent out !

Useful. Have gone from a JT SIM with Ł2 credit to a SIM card that I can sell
for Ł20-Ł25 !

The Ł2 credit is forfeit, but was unused for some time, as had enough talk
time on contract that covered more than my needs.

Cheers!

Not a hope :-(
Oranges problem is its very departmentalised, each dept have no clue
what the others are doing, so it only take one depts manager
to make an arsehole decision to destroy the whole companies reputation,
and another to please its users no end
i.e. yesterday Everyphone, today JT to OVP Virgin

Amazed Im stunned, particularly that theyve sorted out an OTA
re-profiling Sim update !
Before, if you could convince them to only take a pint of blood to wangle
an OVP Virgin conversion out of them, they had to send out a new contract
profile Sim

Just rang them. Apparently you can only change from JT to OVP Virgin if you
have a series 10 sim. Apparently it is highly unlikely that anyone would
have a series 10 sim in a JT phone. My sim is a series 7 so no go.
Apparently they have no way of selling me a new series 10 sim without a new
handset!

It simply mystifies me why they make it so difficult to connect to OVP
Virgin other than by buying a new handset, surely selling an OVP Virgin sim
for say Ł30 would make them as much profit as selling a new budget handset
with a JT sim and would increase the number of contract users. Whats the
problem.

Ummm... That goes back to Oranges decision a couple of years ago about
old profile 7 Sims not having toolkit and so being unsuitable for Wap and Data.
But a few months ago they reversed that decision and allowed old 7 Sims
to be Wap / Data enabled.
I guess what with Wap being free on Orange at the moment they dont want
old 7 profile data unfriendly (as they see it) Sims registered on the network ?
7 profiles are all now at least 4 years old now

Simple enough, go out and buy a new JT Sim
9.99 from www.mobiles.co.uk/list.htm

I would add that this was a contract SIM I switched to PAYG about 18 months
ago when contract ended. Pleased to be able to rectify that mistake!

Oh yes.
They should all now be either 9 / 10 (bugger all difference) or new 12 / 13
32kb
What matters is 9 onward have the Sim toolkit, which is what worries
them more than an alien invasion

(AFAIK 8 was never issued)

Having said that, you ask 9 orange customer services a question and get 10
different answers! ;o)
