Am looking to upgrade and get either a SEK700 or Nokia 6230.

From what I have read they are both good phones - not much in it between
them.

So does nokia have software similar to Floats mobile agent - I think that
that might be the deciding factor.

6230s memory is expandable, 700is isnt. Not such a big deal unless you
plan on using it as an mp3 player a lot.

Dont even know what floats mile agent is, so cant help there

Cant really comment on the Nokia as Im not too much a fan of their phones.
CPW had the 6230 as a free upgrade but I ended up with the K700i to replace
my T610 which Ive sold to a friend. The Nokia has a few aces over the K700i
such as an MMC slot & EDGE (not relevant in the UK).

However, the K700i has very good RF performance (& low SAR), a bigger
display, very good audio quality & is also handsfree. Its Bluetooth
implementation is also very good. The K700is photo LED gives about 1 stop
extra exposure up to ~2m. Youre probably not going to be too disappointed
with either.

The SE software is OK, I sync my K700i with OutlookXP without issues. Not
sure if FMA works with the K700i or what s/w is availably for Nokias.

Regards

FMA does work with the K700i, except it wont seem to sync the calendar.

I think the K700 is a great phone. The RF performance isnt a
theoretical notion, either; I got a loan Sharp while mine was having its
firmware upgraded, and it often had no signal at work, where the K700
always has at least half its bars lit.

Theres a branch of Tescos in a dip near where I live. My T610 had trouble
seeing a signal in 90% of the shop. My K700 has trouble in 10% of the place.
The same story in other marginal areas. I didnt realise how mediocre the
T610 was until I went on a 5hr train journey - mine showed No Network when
loads of other people where making/receiving calls. Even factoring in that
many of those calls would be on other networks, I realised that my phone
wasnt that good at its core function - making & receiving calls!

What pisses me off though is how few reviewers of phones bother to mention
RF performance, as if they were all the same where clearly they are not. I
dont expect reviewers to hire or buy expensive test equipment but just to
make comparisons with known good phones in marginal locations. Even
ball-park feelings would do! Anyone with webspace can review a phone that
show endless screenshots of a devices UI, be critical if it needed charging
more than once a week but I expect better from dedicated sites.

Regards, having climbed off my soapbox :)
