I have a 6510 here which appears to be dropping signal on O2 and
Vodafone, but *not* on T-Mobile. Is this likely? Im wondering whether
its a quirk with the frequency used by O2/Voda which doesnt affect
signal on the frequency used by T-Mobile (I forget the exact
frequencies).
Is there a fix?
Full details of what brought me to this conclucsion:
Moved here (low signal area); phone kept dropping Vodafone signal.
Girlfriends phone (on O2) had no problems. Moved to O2 at end of
contract. Still kept dropping signal.
Dug out old 8210 for testing, using PAYG T-Mobile (well, Virgin) SIM I
had hanging around.
8210 with T-Mobile SIM: good signal
8210 with O2 SIM: poor-medium signal
6510 with T-Mobile SIM: poor-medium signal
6510 with O2 SIM: poor signal (keeps dropping)
This is with the phones in the same place (my dining room table,
terrible for dropped signals) and keeping a rough eye on them for about
30 minutes.
It looks to me like the 6510 has poorer reception. Is this a problem
inherent in the design, or is my 6510 faulty?
Will update with more details if they seem helpful.
