Hi,

I ordered a MDAIII on T-Mobile from OneStopPhoneShop on 20 February 2005.
Forecast dispatch dates of 8 March and 18 March have come and gone and OSPS
have still not received any stock. Worse, without warning OSPS helped
themselves to Ł160 from my credit card when I placed the order a month ago,
so Ive actually paid for the thing in full now.

Am considering cancelling the deal on Monday and was wondering if anyone out
there has actually received a MDAIII recently? Either from OSPS or
otherwise.

Am I likely to have a problem getting my money back from OSPS? I know that
if necessary I can resort to a charge back from Amex, but in the first
instance need to approach OSPS - its just a question of how long I give
them.

The MDAIII was removed from the T-Mobile website a couple of weeks ago and
my suspicion is that theyve been caught out by higher than anticipated
demand and dont actually have any themselves.

Assuming that I do cancel I will probably re-order directly from O2 either a
XDAIIs or XDAIIi. O2 say they have stock of both. Does anyone have
experience otherwise?

Thanks.

Marty

They talk bolox. Ring them up and cancel. Talk to Shanie, she is probably
the most helpful one there. Her direct dial is 01270 504460

I ordered my SPV M2000 from e2save.co.uk on Friday 18th (yesterday 12:30pm)
and received it this morning at 9:30am (Saturday 19th) Same deal as OSPS
i.e. yourplan 200 + 200 free, Ł30 month and Ł109.99 for phone.

See my reply to the thread we were on earlier. I cancelled no problem. They
should have reimbursed my cash, if not they will be in trouble. Shanie also
said that if I ordered, but found one elsewhere I would get a refund adn the
order cancelled as soon as I contacted them.

try e2save for an M2000, Dean on sales said they had about 40 in stock ready
for sale. I got mine and I am now fighting with it to get it on my home
ad-hoc wireless network. Can see the shared folders on the desktop, but
have not got the internet settings right yet. Off to googlesville for me I
think!

Thanks for the suggestion Halli, but I intend to use the new SIM alongside
my existing OVP Virgin SIM in my SE T610 and use the PPC purely as that, or
perhaps just with a PAYG SIM to send emails. Therefore I dont really want
two Orange SIMS in the same phone - will get confused and use the wrong one!

How is the keyboard on the M2000, do you find it usable or is it a bit of a
gimmick?

Also, I read that the Orange version comes with a spare battery, is this
really the case?

Finally, have you checked that youve actually received the refund. Your
comments dont exactly inspire confidence in them!

Unless you mean that you will be using a dual sim adapter, just write on it
with a CD marker - I have an OVP Virgin sim and two PAYG sims on Orange. I
never get confused. 400 xnet anytime mins are not to be sniffed at in the
first 6 months.
Why must you use the OVP sim? The call charges are cheaper on the orange
contract after the included mins anyway. If its a number thing, couldnt
you have it ported to the contract sim?

I had a T630 for a while - hated it, the camera and screen were worse than
my current nokia 6820 - and that is cr*p.

If you just want a pocket PC I am sure there are better ones out there for
similar money. A few have VGA screens too. Couldnt you get a contract with
a free-ish phone and sell it on ebay to put towards a pocket PC? What draws
you to the XDA clones?

I prefer to write using the stylus, but the keyboard is quite useable. No
good in landscape mode though :-)

Yup! and a space in the cradle to keep it charged too. Stereo
headphones/handsfree and a 32meg sd card. (but I have a 128meg mmc card
already and I am getting a 1gig card soon.) Comes with some good additional
software too, pdf and ppt viewers to mention two.

Yes, I am going to contact them and ask for a copy of the refund receipt. I
will also contact my bank.

I have the m2000 working on the wireless lan in adhoc mode now! It is brill.
Web pages are almost useable with the device in landscape mode. Pop3 seems a
bit slow, also when I sent an MMS it was received twice. I think I will
contact Orange and ask if I have been billed twice.

Now busy getting all of the software installed on it that I had on the
Jornada.

Yes, Ill be using it with a twin SIM adapter in my T610 and I need to keep
the existing number. I *could* port out and back to transfer it to a new
Orange phone , but I am reluctant to lose OVP Virgin - its so cheap
overall. Anyway porting would take 30 days, although Orange would probably
do it straight away (they would just love to get rid of another OVP Virgin
account :-).

Most of my outbound calls are off-peak and something like O2 online 450 will
get me lots of off peak coss network calls for Ł20/month not to mention the
100 texts and 1Mb data, so I think this is the way to go. Am tempted by the
Orange spare battery though.

I want an XDA so that I can send SMS / emails (cant be doing with the
texting thing on the T610) and use it with the Road Angel for SatNav -
granted others can do this as well, but it just seems the best solution.
