Depends what you calss as the V series - I know there are some free
solutions for the V180 and V200, which are not regarding as true V
series phones by some.

Only thing I could assume is that some are not fully wired, or use a
different pin layout than others. Dell used to do a similar thing with
their ATX connectors in their power supplies - standard ATX block,
differently wired....
