You will need a hardware solution like smartclip or similar.

Actually there *ARE* sites offering unlock solutions for the Motorola V series
but *ONLY* with a suitable USB data cable! (But not for free!)

What makes some data cables suitable for unlocking while others are not (while
both sorts can transfer data to and from the phone) is something of a mystery
to me!

Depends what you calss as the V series - I know there are some free
solutions for the V180 and V200, which are not regarding as true V
series phones by some.

Only thing I could assume is that some are not fully wired, or use a
different pin layout than others. Dell used to do a similar thing with
their ATX connectors in their power supplies - standard ATX block,
differently wired....

No - I meant what I said! - there *ARE* sites offering USB cable unlock for
the V525 as the OP requested! I have no idea how reliable this is!

A UK site offering this is www.mobilefun.co.uk for Ł16.95 (for the Vxxx
series via USB data cable)

A US site www.gsmliberty.net offers instant Motorola Vxxx unlock via
data cable for $25

Its not necessarily the cables, more down to the voltages and/or
currents the computer can supply through various ports.
