Hi All

Im off on holiday to Holland soon with my laptop and my O2
datacard, so I rang O2 to find out if I could use the datacard
over there.

Yes, I have now un-barred your number so that it can be used
abroad.

Thanks, so how much is it going to cost me to use it?

On GPRS, itll cost you Ł7.05 per megabyte.

What?!?!?!

Has anyone used an O2 card overseas?

Were you charged this much?

All the best,

Paul

Seems about par of the course. Some networks charge Ł10 per megabyte
when roaming.

Make sure you turn off all automatic updates (Windows, Virus Checkers
etc. Ive recently talked to a chap who got at Ł800 bill!

Ł7 per megabyte is just plain ridiculous and so is call romaing charges.
Thats why many people, myself included get a local sim in the country were
visiting. If I downloaded the same amount on my phone as I did using my dsl
line it would cost me on average Ł141,000 a month!! (Ł2.35 a megabyte) Maybe
not a totally valid comparison but it gives you some idea how ridiculous the
charges are!

It may not be the best choice of provider for many people, but Telecomplus
provide various low cost tariffs operating on the T-Mobile network, and they
charge Ł3 per MB for GPRS. However the charge remains the same even when
roaming!
