I have just got hold of one of these Global roaming SIMs which has an Isle
of Man incoming telephone number. Before purchasing I checked that 07624
was inclusive on O2 contracts so my family could contact me free of charge.

However, the SIM has come with an 07924 number (also allocated to Manx
Telecom), which bizarrely is NOT inclusive on an O2 contract. If 07624 and
07924 are both Manx Telecom and are both band fm1 from landlines, why is one
inclusive and not the other on an O2 contract?

Does anybody know whether 07624 and 07924 numbers are inclusive on calls
from other mobile networks?

JP

I believe the 07924 numbers are the new range for the IOM sims, and it
just a matter of time before the UK carriers realize that. OTOH, you ma
be able to specifically ask for a 07624 number. I am the US myself, an
have on of these (07624 range) for my international travels. Also, m
family in the UK can contact me in the US (IOM sim is fowarded to my U
mobile for free) from inclusive minutes on their mobiles. They use
Tmobile and Vodafone.

I believe this same problem exists with Skype., They charge a muc
lower rate for the 07624 numbers compared to the 07924 numbers. Ther
was a posting about this issue in the international forum at

I dont think 07624 calls are from inclusive minutes on either T-
mobile or Vodafone, the latter specifically listing it amongst numbers
it excepts and charges for; maybe your relatives should check their
bills.

At the moment, Orange and O2 seem to have these numbers from inclusive
minutes, though not on all Orange contracts will count call divert
like that.

As for 07924, O2 have charged 40p, 30p 20p, inclusive to different
customers, the inclusive one being on a CPW/O2 contract. They dont
know what the number is, and Im not telling them. Ive had a refund
but dont expect to ring up every month and have it happen again. For
other networks I dont know what the tariffs are, but suspect that
some will count it as inclusive for maybe a provisional period

There are some more creative call forwarding options available, using
VoIP accounts with cheap tariffs for UK mobiles (such as Betamax, eg
Voipcheap or the new Justvoip). Youd need a separate DID to point at
this account though, as they no longer offer incoming numbers.

Its also possible to use separate callback with either the mobile or
a forwarded landline number, thus getting below the SIMs own tariff.
