Looking for some help deciding the cheapest way to send texts when
abroad in Europe.

(Has to be pay as you go and sent from a phone as texts; so no java
apps/internet methods)

I know with O2 contract you can use your inclusive texts when abroad -
1 text from abroad using 4 of your UK bundle. So...If I topped up an
O2 pay as you go phone with, say Ł10, and qualified for the reward
giving me 300 free texts, could I use these in the same way?

Any other good text offers/bundles worth looking at?

MMS messages are generally cheaper to send than SMS when you are abroad, there
is no obligation to attach anything.

I am on t-mobile flext, EU roaming MMS messages cost 20p, which is taken out
of the flext allowance. As I rarely use my monthly allowance, they are in
effect free.

O2 PAYG inclusive allowance is for uk texts only.

How about a O2 simplicity SIM AFAIK that would be the same as O2 PAYM,
so, as you said 1 text from abroad uses 4 of your UK bundle.

Virgins Pay As You Go by Direct Debit (basically, their PAYG tariff on
a pay monthly setup) has roaming texts at 25p/text. Normal PAYG its
35p/text.
