Its easy to tell, the tell-tale signs are blue/green deposits around
the tracks (if visible), battery contacts and charging connector block.

Phones run on electricity, electricity and water do not mix.

Of course not, you simply subjected the handset to more moisture than it
could withstand. You probably did it without even realising - most of
the time when I tell people their phones are water damaged they insist
its never been near any water when clearly it has.
